Alastair Hignell

Alastair hosted our 2020 virtual conference, and we are delighted to welcome him back this year to help us celebrate our 10th birthday.

Sporting Memories Patron Alastair Hignell is a former England rugby international, county cricketer, BBC broadcaster and award-winning author. Add to this Alastair's personal and professional achievements and commitments away from the sportsground, and it is clear to see why in 2008 he became a BBC Sports Personality Award Winner and in 2009 received a CBE from the Queen at Buckingham Palace.

Since hosting last year's Conference, Alastair's involvement in the Sporting Memories family has grown. He hosts our 'In Conversation' series of videos with well-known people from the world of sport, has been instrumental in collecting almost 200 sporting memories from both members of the public and some of sport's biggest names, and is no stranger to hosting events for us. From 'A Tour of the Lions' Den' to our 'Great Rugby Scrumdown'.

We are delighted to say that he has also been instrumental in the setting up of two brand new Sporting Memories Clubs, near his home in West Sussex.
