Professor Claire Surr: Sporting Memories Patron

Claire Surr

Claire Surr is Professor of Dementia Studies and Director of the Centre for Dementia Research at Leeds Beckett University.

Claire has worked in dementia care and services research for over 20 years. Her particular interests lie in understanding ways to provide the highest quality care for people with dementia in settings such as care homes and hospitals. She is also recognised internationally for her expertise on the best ways to educate and train staff working in health and social care about dementia and how to best support those living with the condition.

Leeds Beckett University and Sporting Memories have a long-standing relationship. Claire and other researchers at the University have been involved in a number of research projects supporting Sporting Memories to evaluate their work. The Centre has an interest in physical activity and sport-related research, with current and completed PhD students undertaking projects in this area.

Claire is a big sports fan and is a keen mountain biker and road cyclist.
