8 September 2020

We were delighted when secondary school teacher, comedian and runner Stephen Halkett joined the Sporting Memories Squad and began training for the Virtual Great North Run.

We were even more excited when his dad Peter decided to complete the same distance – using the 'Steps for Sporting Memories' virtual route over the same length. While Stephen will run the distance in one day (on 13 September), Peter has already begun his walk and aims to cross the finish line alongside Stephen. Peter will also get to 'meet' some of our greatest names in athletics as he completes his walk!

Join Peter and Stephen!

Whether you choose to join Stephen and run a virtual half-marathon on 13 September, or like Peter walk the 'Steps for Sporting Memories: Athletics Greats' route in your own time, you can also help to raise money for, awareness of or donate to Sporting Memories.

While entry to each activity is completely free, every donation received, no matter how small, makes a real difference to the lives of isolated older people.
