6 February 2021

It is an exciting time for Sporting Memories in Fife as we look forward to kicking off our latest virtual Club, in partnership with Tayport Football Club.

Bolstered by the success of our two clubs in Kirkcaldy and Glenrothes, we are reaching out to sports fans across North East Fife who are keen to talk about sport with like-minded people.

On Tuesday 16 February we hope to meet local people who enjoy reminiscing about their iconic sporting moments, taking part in a quiz and maybe a Spot the Ball or two. Magical stories and memories are happening every week across the country and we are sure this latest club will be no different.

Gary Waddell, Sporting Memories Foundation Group Practice Coordinator, explains: "We are really excited to launch our newest Sporting Memories virtual club with the team at Tayport Football Club, a club who strive to be at the heart of the community. We believe there are lots of older adults in the area who have a passion for talking about sport and who will benefit from attending a weekly group with like-minded people. If you have the means to get online it is a great opportunity to build new friendships and share passions. We hope when restrictions allow, we can move from the virtual world to the club where we can all sit round the table with a cuppa to talk about sport."

Donna Mackey, Partnership Manager, says: "We must say thanks to Active Fife, Tayport FC and Waterstone Crook Community Sports Hub for working with us to create this fantastic opportunity, we can’t wait to get started. It is vital to have such strong local support and we hope that many sports fans across North East Fife get involved and share their passions with us!"

Pete McEleny, from Tayport FC, says: "We think that working with Sporting Memories is a great way for the club to create more community links and we’re really up for being involved. The virtual club is a great idea and everyone from Tayport is on board."

The virtual club is free to attend and runs via Zoom from 10.30am to 12pm every Tuesday.
