Online Club features in national campaign 22 November 2020 Boxing promoter extraordinaire Eddie Hearn joined us for an online Club, volunteering an hour of his time and helping to promote a nationwide volunteering campaign from the National Lottery, ITV and STV. Eddie told the group: "My grandad passed away about 4 or 5 months ago. This is the kind of thing I feel he was missing because little groups and communities like this are so important. Especially at the moment, you can keep these opportunities going for people to go out and talk, to have fun and enjoy themselves and put a smile on everyone's face because tough as it is at the moment, this is the kind of thing life's all about." And Fury against AJ? "I've had my ups and downs with Tyson Fury...I knew I should have got him to sign that bit of paper!" Eddie said: “Volunteering with The Sporting Memories Foundation this week was a really rewarding experience. To witness first-hand the impact you can have on the wellbeing of an individual just by giving a small amount of your time to help out was so nice to see. "I’d like to encourage everyone who has a bit of time to spare to go to the MissOutTohelpOut website to explore how they can support their local community. It’s amazing what you can do even in the time it takes to watch 12 rounds of boxing and the positive impact that you can have on the lives of others.” Chris Wilkins, Sporting Memories Co-founder, said: "We were of course delighted that Eddie joined us in our online Club. The time he has given has made it a very special session for our Club members, leading to lots of lively conversation and insights into the world of boxing and sport promotion. Volunteers are our lifeblood, and they bring their skills and dedication to over 130 Sporting Memories Clubs each year, across England, Scotland and Wales. We are incredibly proud of them."
