Sporting Memories teams up with the British Inspiration Trust

We’re pleased to announce that we’re joining forces with the British Inspiration Trust (BRIT) ahead of their upcoming challenge.

BRIT is a charity that supports young adults, in the UK, with their mental wellbeing and fitness to avoid feelings of loneliness and isolation, through their annual BRIT Challenge.

The challenge invites students from colleges and universities across the UK to take part in a physically active task as a collective to raise money for BRIT and other charities.

At Sporting Memories, we are encouraging those participating in the challenge to choose us as a charity to raise funds for alongside BRIT and help our work with older people through sports reminiscence.

This year’s challenge, starting from 1 February 2022, will see inclusive teams from colleges and universities across the UK come together to complete this year’s 2022 mile test in any way possible from walking to running, from paddle-boarding to hand-cycling.

To find out how you can take part in the BRIT Challenge and support us alongside BRIT, simply click here and register before 1 February.

Phil Packer, Founder and Non-Paid CEO of BRIT, said:

“I’m thrilled that the British Inspiration Trust (BRIT) and the Sporting Memories Foundation have forged a special relationship.

Every UK university, college, specialist college and Students’ Union are invited to enter teams in the annual BRIT Challenge (1st February to 3rd March 2022) to support and improve young adult, student and staff mental health and fitness. Every team taking part are invited to choose a second charity to raise funds for, alongside BRIT, to support local, regional and national charities. I hope universities and colleges throughout the UK will choose Sporting Memories as their second charity and raise vital funds to enable them to continue their work to tackle dementia, depression and loneliness.

Chris Wilkins, Co-Founder of Sporting Memories Foundation, added:

“We are delighted to be started an exciting new relationship with The British Inspiration Trust (BRIT) ahead of the annual BRIT Challenge, which is being delivered to support and improve young adult and student mental health and fitness throughout the UK.

“We also look forward to exploring ways in which our own Sporting Memories network can take part in the BRIT Challenge from our staff and our brilliant volunteers and supporters.

“We also hope that our work will engage students and staff involved in the BRIT Challenge who might like to volunteer at one of our clubs throughout England, Scotland and Wales as part of their community volunteering and charitable work; especially those students and staff who love sport.”
