Sporting Memories Scotland will be hosting its inaugural Scottish Volunteer Awards evening to recognise some of the charity’s amazing volunteers, with Livingston legend Jim Leishman and Olympic Curling champion Millie Smith handing out accolades at the Tony Macaroni Arena in Livingston on Thursday 28 April.

As part of our 10th anniversary celebration across the UK, the awards, sponsored by Iron Mountain, will highlight some of the amazing volunteers who help to keep our clubs up and running in Scotland.

The evening, at the home of Livingston FC, will see Jim and Millie speaking about their amazing careers in Football and Curling respectively alongside handing out accolades to our deserving volunteers including:

  • The Dedicated Service Award
  • Volunteer's Volunteer Award
  • Quiz Master Award
  • Zoom Maestro Award
  • And the Outstanding Volunteer Award

Keep an eye out on our social media channels across Twitter, Facebook and LinkedIn for more information on Nominees over the coming weeks.

We’re also highlighting the volunteers as part of our drive to encourage more people to give up their time to support our clubs across Scotland. Donna Mackey, Partnership Manager at Sporting Memories, said: “We’re delighted to be hosting an evening which will recognise all our incredible volunteers and the countless hours they put in to ensure older people have something in their community which they belong to.

“We know our clubs provide vital support to older people, their carers and families who are isolated or living with long-term conditions, and that is where our volunteers play a crucial role in providing a fun and welcoming club for all.”

The awards are being supported by Iron Mountain as Headline Sponsor, but would not have been made possible without the event’s other sponsors including Age Scotland, together in dementia everyday (TIDE), BEAR Scotland and Scottish Club Sport.
