It was a session with a difference. It may be autumn – but who says you can't wear sunglasses and hats? Our Swansea group had taken a virtual seaside walk, and even better, it ended with ice cream.

Sporting Memories participants, volunteers and care home staff completed a virtual walk from Llangenith Beach, Gower, to Joe's Ice Cream Parlour, Mumbles – a distance of 16.8 miles.

Between them they completed the walk an impressive four times over, stepping a total of 117,372 steps.

So what better way to celebrate in that week's online Sporting Memories session than by wearing summer gear and, well, eating ice creams?

To top it all off, Joe's Ice Cream kindly donated an ice cream cake as a fitting reward for a long seaside walk. Our thanks to everyone involved!
