The annual Festive Run, in support of Sporting Memories Foundation Scotland and charity partner Funding Neuro, celebrated its 10th anniversary with a virtual event on Sunday 29 November.

Athletic great and Sporting Memories Ambassador Lachie Stewart has supported the Annual Festive Run for several years as the official half-marathon race starter. This year marks the 50th anniversary of Lachie winning 10,000m gold at the 1970 Commonwealth Games, wearing his favoured number 317. And so runners took to their local paths and streets to raise money for and awareness of the two charities, wearing running number 317.

Runners raised £1,000 - a fantastic sum. And each received a medal to print out. Our thanks go to everyone involved, from runners to organisers, Funding Neuro to local schools.

Runners included students from Vale of Leven Academy (pictured), which Lachie Stewart attended.

Race leader and Sporting Memories Foundation Scotland COO Maurice Donahue said: "The Virtual Festive Run went really well given the challenges we are all facing at the moment surrounding COVID-19. It was important that we kept the race going and celebrated its 10th anniversary, even if it meant in the virtual world. Participants have been very supportive over the years and again everyone's generosity is much appreciated."
