Sporting Memories weekly clubs are helping improve the mental and physical wellbeing of older people by providing an innovative solution to three of the biggest challenges facing an ageing population; Dementia, Depression and Loneliness.

The clubs are open to any sports fan over the age of 50 who would enjoy meeting with like minded folk to share stories and enjoy reminiscing about watching or playing sport.

Our annual surveys tell us our club members value attending the weekly clubs. They tell us they:

  • Get out of their houses more
  • Feel valued and listened to
  • Feel more connected to their community
  • Have made new friends
  • Become more active

“We’re all at different stages and some folk are a wee bit sharper than others….but it’s great when you see someone who would normally struggle a wee bit, getting something right….see when that happens it, it gives you a buzz! If they manage something that maybe they wouldn’t normally manage…it gies [gives] you that wee bit, feel good factor about it… when you’re not at the club, you wonder how they are doing. It’s the best thing I’ve done, if I hadn’t come, I wouldn’t be here today” Michael, Aged 61
