Take part in the Virtual Great North Run and help tackle social isolation Congratulations to all our runners and walkers who completed this challenge on 13 September! Please see below for details of how to donate – every little helps and makes a real difference to the lives of older people. We have set up donation pages, for the Sporting Memories Foundation and for the Sporting Memories Foundation Scotland. Like many of our staff, volunteers and fabulous fundraisers, you may have found yourself missing out on an organised race this year. For everyone at Sporting Memories, the Great North Run is one of the highlights of our fundraising calendar – not to mention a huge amount of fun (and some sore limbs!) So here's a fantastic opportunity to put all that training into action: by running the Virtual Great North Run half-marathon for Sporting Memories, on Sunday 13 September 2020. Money you raise goes towards supporting our innovative work with socially isolated older people during the current crisis. It also supports our Clubs, resources, and volunteer training and recruitment. With all virtual runners starting at the same time, you will have access to an app that tracks your positioning and lets you hear the sounds of the Great North Run as you go. From the warm-up to the Red Arrows, the cheers of the crowd to the cries of "Oggy, Oggy, Oggy". You will find the latest information on the race and details of how to enter on the Great North Run website. If you would like to find out more about fundraising for Sporting Memories while running the Official Virtual Great North Run, you can get in touch with our Funding Manager Kelly at [email protected] or call 07592 639056 to chat about it.
