On Tuesday 11th December George Heriot’s School’s held their annual Senior School Concert at Usher Hall in Edinburgh, entitled “A Sporting Christmas”. The retiring collection donated by everyone in attendance to Sporting Memories totalled just over £1020 to help “Support Our Clubs”

Alongside the traditional Christmas favourites, music with a sporting connection included Gonna Fly Now (from Rocky), John William’s Olympic Overture and Jupiter from Holst’s The Planets used in the Rugby World Cup.

Through a rich tradition of playing sport over its 350 years, in recent times the school has provided 5 Rugby Union Internationals to the Scottish Rugby team: Andy Irvine, Iain and Kenny Milne, Gordon Ross and Ken Scotland.
