Volunteer apply-to-volunteer Current Volunteering Opportunities in Scotland VOLUNTEERING WITH SPORTING MEMORIES FOUNDATION SCOTLAND In 2019 Sporting Memories Foundation Scotland are looking to expand the number of weekly activities available across the country. In order to do this we require passionate volunteers to facilitate our community clubs. Sporting Memories clubs’ main focus is on sporting reminiscence but they also include some physical activity e.g. Boccia (indoor bowls). The club facilitator is the volunteer who organises and runs a weekly club, usually with the help of other volunteers depending on the number of participants. This involves setting up the room/hall and organising a programme for the session. The main function of the facilitator is to ensure that club participants’ contributions are respected and that every individual is allowed the time needed to contribute. Volunteers enjoy talking about their favourite sports and have fun talking to club members about memories of past sporting events. Full training is provided for the role with ongoing support provided by the Volunteer Coordinator and other staff members. We value our volunteers and the service that they provide and always want you to feel supported. What our current volunteers say: “I can talk endlessly about a subject I love” “It is rewarding watching group members develop confidence in contributing to the group” “Feeling appreciated and seeing my work making a difference" Do you have?
