Sporting Memories weekly clubs are helping improve the mental and physical well-being of older people by providing an innovative solution to three of the biggest challenges facing an ageing population: Dementia, Depression and Loneliness. Read more
By sharing memories of sporting moments however big or small, people are instantly connected, reawakening thoughts feelings and times that would have otherwise been undiscovered all because of a passion for sport.
Why not take a few minutes to dig out any old programmes, sports biographies, annuals, shirts, scarves, boots and any other sporting memorabilia that could be put to use at our sporting memories clubs?
Football chiefs have teamed up with The Sporting Memories Foundation to produce a guide to help former players diagnosed with dementia. The Professional Footballers' Association have produced the guide with The Sporting Memories Foundation and researchers from the Centre for Dementia Research at Leeds Beckett University.
