FORMULA ONE racing star Nico Rosberg has backed a new sporting memories initiative to help local people with dementia.

The winner of the Australian Grand Prix has written to organisers of the Sporting Memories Network to commend the work they do nurturing the long-held memories of sufferers of dementia.

BBC presenter John Inverdale, a former reporter in Lincolnshire, has also added his support for the charity, which is currently training people in North East Lincolnshire to visit care homes and elderly people's groups to help them revitalise their sporting memories.
