Sports fans needed at Sheffield reminiscence groups

Volunteers are needed to help run five new reminiscence groups in Sheffield that will use sporting memories as a tool to tackle loneliness, dementia and depression among older people.

North Yorkshire-based charity Sporting Memories is working with Sheffield Council to set up the groups in five city libraries - Crystal Peaks, Ecclesall, Firth Park, Stocksbridge and the Central Library.

Sports fans are now being sought to help with the sessions and to research the sporting history of the city.

Coun Isobel Bowler, Sheffield Council's cabinet member for neighbourhoods, said: "Sheffield has a proud sporting history and there are countless highlights to look back on."
